Soil Stabilization, Erosion Control & Dewatering
EFI partners with engineers and contractors nationwide, to address soil stabilization and groundwater issues, protecting surfaces from erosion, settling, and saturation. We install durable geotextile fabrics and custom solutions that meet environmental protection standards and regulatory requirements. Our capabilities include:
Levee Stabilization
Levees are vital for flood control and environmental protection. Our specialized solutions for levee stabilization provide a robust protection against erosion and washout, ensuring these critical structures remain a dependable safeguard for your property and infrastructure.
Berm Stabilization
Berms are critical protective barriers. Our stabilization solutions create reinforced, durable structures that prevent berm erosion and failure, maintaining the integrity of your site’s containment and diversion features.
Dewatering / Site Safety
Managing excess water is essential for creating a safe and effective work environment. Our dewatering services address groundwater and surface water issues, removing excess moisture to enable optimal compaction and stabilization. This helps keep your project on schedule and within budget.
Case Study: South Carolina Ports Authority Dredging Stabilization
EFI USA has played a critical role in supporting the South Carolina Ports Authority (SCPA) and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in their ongoing mission to preserve the Port of Charleston’s position as one of the most strategically important and operationally efficient ports on the East Coast. As one of the deepest harbors in the region, Charleston must routinely accommodate some of the world’s largest container vessels. To maintain this status, the SCPA and Army Corps regularly dredge the port channel, clearing accumulated sediment to safeguard navigation depths and ensure uninterrupted commercial operations.
However, the dredged material, which is often composed of unstable soils, must be contained and properly managed to prevent it from re-entering the channel. EFI USA collaborates with project partners to provide specialized installation crews that deploy high-strength geotextile panels across the berms of the dredge spoil containment areas. These soil stabilization systems are engineered to prevent erosion, lateral movement, and structural failure of the berms.
Our geosynthetic containment solutions ensure the stability and long-term integrity of these critical structures, preventing material from migrating back into waterways and disrupting port activity. By reinforcing and protecting spoil berms, EFI USA helps the Port maintain continuous vessel access, reduce maintenance cycles, and comply with environmental regulations.
EFI’s involvement supports maritime commerce, protects dredge management infrastructure, and strengthens one of the region’s most vital economic engines, keeping Charleston competitive in the global logistics network.
